NEON TUBE BRACKET

As with backplates, there seem to be as many ways of mounting the neon tubes as there are robots. Some builders attach the tubes directly to the backplate. Others fasten or even glue the neon tubes directly to the torso. Neither of these approaches appealed to me. I wanted all components to be seperable and removable.

Once again finding a new use for plumber's tape, I fashioned a bracket to hold the neon tubes in position. The bracket is secured to the torso by bolts that are glued to the torso using the Reinbrecht method.

The neon tubes are then attached to the bracket using plastic electrical ties. Using this method, the neon tubes are suspended above the backplate and do not come into contact with it.

The advantage of this mounting method is that I can remove or even replace the backplate without disturbing with the neon tubes. I can also remove or replace the neon tubes without having to buy a new backplate.
